THE PARTY HERE AND THERE

The ritual of Eid Al Adha, Eid el-Kebir or Tabaski is a holiday for all Muslims often called the feast of sacrifice or the “feast of the sheep” in France. Celebrated two months after Ramadan, its date is set to be the 10th day of the lunar month of Dhul Hijja. In the Muslim calendar, this is the month in which the pilgrimage (hajj) to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, takes place.

This festival is a moment of sharing, celebration and conviviality around the world for millions of Muslim faithful. It marks the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was ready to make of his son Ismail (Ishmael) in obedience to Allah. When Ibrahim consented to the divine injunction, Allah replaced the child at the last moment with a sheep to be offered as a sacrifice.

To commemorate this devotion, every year during Eid-el-Kebir, Muslim families sacrifice an animal according to the rules in force. This moment represents a very important ritual practice in Islam. On this day, it is also highly recommended to distribute gifts and to multiply alms to loved ones and those in need.

So, so that together we can celebrate Eid Al Adha 2024 joyfully and with dignity, we can offer the meat of a sacrifice to those in need. This feast is the ideal opportunity to make a humanitarian gesture for our neighbor during this time of prayer and sharing. So that Eid el-Kebir 2024 is not a day like the others in France and in every region of the world...

So that Eid Al Adha is not a day like the others...

I am offering a sacrifice
“I will be able to prepare a festive meal and please my whole family”
“This year my family and I will be a part of the celebration! What happiness for a father!”
“I will have a gift for Aid! It doesn't happen often in our camp...”

We answer your questions

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO DONATE?

Eid El Adha, or Eid El Kebir is the feast of sacrifice. It is one of the two largest and most important celebrations in the Muslim tradition. The sacrificed animal is shared with loved ones but also with people in need. It is a celebration of sharing and solidarity. It takes place during the twelfth month of the Hegirian calendar and is the culmination of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

WHAT IS EID AL ADHA IN THE MUSLIM TRADITION?

Eid El Adha, or (Eid El Kebir) is the feast of sacrifice that pays tribute to Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh).

It is one of the two most important celebrations in the Islamic tradition.

It takes the form of a morning prayer bringing together all the faithful (men, women and children) before sacrificing an animal such as sheep or cattle.

Once the ritual is over, the meat is shared with loved ones, neighbours and anyone in need so that everyone has enough food to eat on this festive day. It is a celebration of generosity, sharing and solidarity.

A few weeks after the month of Ramadan, it takes place during the twelfth month of the Hegirian calendar and is the culmination of the pilgrimage to Mecca.

WHAT IS THE DATE OF EID AL-KEBIR 2024?

We are going to summarize very simply: smiles, joy and heart balm. Easy you will tell us? But we have everything planned! Our teams will travel across Niger, Kenya, Somalia, Somalia, Somalia, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh and France, and your donations will be carefully distributed to families in need. LIFE takes care of everything: selection and purchase of animals (mutton, goat, beef, etc. according to the eating habits of local populations), slaughter in accordance with Islamic rules and distribution to the beneficiaries. And on the day of Eid you will receive by email the follow-up of your sacrifice by GPS by email to find out as a family where your generosity will have made people happy! So that this day of celebration that we are living here is one for them too!

It falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.

In 2024, Eid El Adha is expected to take place around June 16.

However, the exact date will depend on lunar observation, making the “night of doubt” crucial in confirming the precise day of the celebration.

How are the sacrifices made?

As every year, more than 5000 sacrifices will be generously entrusted to us by our donors. For obvious logistical reasons, it is not possible for us to guarantee the mention of the name of each donor at the time of the ritual slaughter, especially since this is not a condition of validity. We will thus proceed in the same way as the priests who are appointed by the pilgrims of the hajj. One thing is certain, after years of experience and thousands of sacrifices made, LIFE will take care of your sacrifice in the best possible way, so that it meets the validity criteria and is distributed quickly to the most needy families. Thank you again for your commitment to us.

WHY ENTRUST (THE REALIZATION OF) MY SACRIFICE TO LIFE?

Access to food is often very limited in our many countries of action.

For some people, Aid is the only time of the year when it is possible to eat meat.

Some families can therefore not celebrate Eid el-Adha due to lack of resources.

By donating your sacrifice to LIFE, you are fulfilling your religious duty, while ensuring that these people can celebrate Eid with dignity by offering them meat for several days and make an impression with a good meal!

We ensure that your donation arrives at its destination on time, that the animal is in good shape, that it is treated gently and carefully, before being immolated in a clean and secure place, provided for this purpose. The choice of sheep will be made on animals aged at least 6 months, for an ox at least 2 years old, all guaranteed to be in good health, without apparent injuries, etc...

The meat is then immediately distributed to a list of beneficiaries selected in advance based on the criterion of need.

WHEN WILL MY SACRIFICE AND GPS TRACKING BE CARRIED OUT?

All the sacrifices will be made between the Eid prayer and the end of the 3 days of Tashriq (11th, 12th and 13th days of the month of Dhoul Hijja, i.e. the three days following Eid Al Adha) as is the tradition. And you will receive your GPS tracking during the 3 days of Aid.

HOW DO YOU SET THE PRICE OF ANIMALS?

The prices of the sacrifices are fair and adjusted to the realities of the current market. These may differ from country to country or even region to another. We take into account various factors such as the type of animal, the quality of the livestock and where it is kept. We take care to ensure superior quality and to support each link in the chain contributing to the operation, from the small local farmer to the regional operator, while ensuring that no one is harmed.

WHAT IS THE EID AL-ADHA CAMPAIGN AT LIFE?

To put it simply, smiles, joy and heart beat! Easy you tell us? But we have everything planned!

Our teams will travel to various countries such as France, Palestine, Guinea, Guinea, Guinea, Guinea, Guinea, Niger, Niger, Somalia, and Kenya, and ensure that your donations are carefully distributed to families in need.

LIFE takes care of everything: selecting and buying animals (sheep, goat, beef, etc.) according to the eating habits of local populations,

Your sacrifice will be carried out in a clean and secure place, provided for this purpose within three days following the day of Eid, in accordance with the rules of Islam. For its part, distribution will be optimized in order to respect the integrity of rights holders. You will receive a GPS tracking link of your sacrifice by email in order to discover as a family where your generosity has made people happy! So that this day of celebration here is one for them too!

WHAT CAN I DO TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PRICE AFTER THE TAX REDUCTION?

In accordance with current tax legislation, you are entitled to a tax reduction for your donation.

From the first quarter of 2025, your 2024 annual tax receipt will be downloadable on your donor area. This will allow you to deduct part of your donations from your taxes.

It is important to note that tax deduction rates and limits vary depending on the amount and type of donation made.

In France, for donations to organizations of general interest, such as ours, the reduction rates are 75% for donations made within the limit of 1,000 euros, and 66% beyond this amount.

The deduction limit is set at 20% of taxable income. We strongly encourage you to consult your tax advisor or refer to information provided by the tax authority for specific details relating to your personal circumstances.

A tool is also available by clicking on the following link: https://www.life-ong.org/reduction-dimpot.

WAS OUR NAME MENTIONED AT THE SACRIFICE?

Each year, more than 5,000 sacrifices are generously given to us by our donors.

For obvious logistical reasons, it is not possible for us to guarantee the mention of the name of each donor at the time of the ritual immolation, especially since this is not a condition of validity.

We will do this in the same way as the priests who are appointed by the hajj pilgrims.

One thing is certain, after years of experience and thousands of sacrifices made, LIFE will take care of your sacrifice in the best possible way, so that it complies with the validity criteria of Islam and distributed quickly to the most needy families.

Thank you again for your commitment to us.
